The following is from a member of the quit smoking website which I belong to, from a member that I know to be a good person. And now this good person has to face this..
Think it can’t happen to you?? Think the instances of this happening are rare, not of your universe??
THINK AGAIN
WAKE UP
SMARTEN UP
Cancer makes no exemptions, plays no favorites. It doesn't care how rich you are, or how good looking you are. It doesn't take into account that you'd like to have your kids outlive you, or that you'd like to be around to see if your granddaughter has that same upturn to her nose like the rest of your family does. And if cancer truly does exist in everyone, that it's just a matter of whether or not the cancer decides to manifest or not..why give it a reason to awaken inside of your body by smoking???
Please... if you’re the praying type, please pray for this person? And if not, then at least keep this good soul in your thoughts?
Thanks.
p.s. the real name of this person has been xxx’d out for privacy reasons.

From xxxxxxxx on 8/3/2006 9:37:42 AMFirst I want to from the bottom of my heart thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts. I probably won't spend much time here after today because I have a lot going on. I start radiology treatment today for the brain tumor, and after 10 - 12 days of that begin chemo. I have stage 4 lung cancer with a tumor the size of a "large apple" in my left lung. What has the doctors confused is the fact that I showed no symtoms of either until the seizure last Thursday, in fact I walk about 35-40 miles a week at around 12 minutes a mile with no shortness of breath. They are at a loss to explain this. Again I am overwhelmed with the prayers and good wishes you all have sent.
God bless you all.xxxx

I have not been to this site in a long time, I quit November 15, 2001.Last Thursday evening after work I was at home taking a shower, I remember shutting the shower off and reaching for a towel, my next concious moment I was in the back of an ambulance headed for the hospital. At the hospital I suffered another seizure and thus started a lot of testing over a two day period in the ICU wing. CAT Scans, MRI, EEG, X rays and blood tests.A doctor came into my room and calmly informed me that they had discovered a brain tumor and a tumor in my left lung the size of a large apple. I have an appointment this afternoon to determine my fate and course of action. If anyone is looking for just that little bit of motivavation to get quit and stay quit I hope this works for you, I am 52 years old, smoked 32 years and did not dodge the bullet, I think I killed myself. I pray for the best and even a positive outcome at this point will not be easy.Put those damn cigarettes away, don't give in. Pray for me. Thank you.xxxxxxx

Oh, Yeah!

I got so busy with that crazy 3D thing called 'life', that I forgot that I still have Sebago/Maine pics to post! Silly me....
Anyhoo, here's Christine around that fire pit I mentioned a bazillion years ago. Mind you , that fire was not started by Yours Truly- campfire building is not my forte, but it is the forte of Robert, so he was unceremoniously in charge of campfire building for the week. Did a great job, too. As I said before, I love sitting around a fire at dusk; something about the crackling sound and that certain aroma wafting around is so soothing....we did a campfire every night but one, and only because it rained that night. Yep, the sitting round the fire pit thing was definitely one of my fave parts of the vacation.
Oh, and Sebago sent an email survey; fill it out, and get a $25.- coupon good for next years visit. Of course I filled out the survey, and printed the coupon, as we plan to go back next year. Christine loved it, and Edward will be able to bring a friend next eyar,, so he will have a better time. I mean, he found it a bit boring at first( he's almost 15), but like with anything, it's what you make of it, yes? Sit around and complain about how boring it is and how it sucks, then yeah, you'll have a shitty time. Actually get off of your butt and utilise what is available, and with a better outlook to boot, then more than likely you'll wind up having a great time, like Edward did. After a day and a half, he was cool with it, and even if he wasn't, I would have just tuned out his whining anyways- why wreck my week, right? Posted by Picasa

Well, after a few most excellent cups of homemade these today, and two very enjoyable walks, I am finally feeling better!
The past two weeks were
hell- between not getting my vaca pay, to Robert slicing his toe open in Maine to Robert getting a fish hook through the finger to trying to desperately get caught up at work....it wasn't pretty, these past two weeks!
But they are history, and as the Beatles once sang, " I got to admit, it's getting better, a little better, all the time"(" it couldn't get much worse"), so I am looking forward to a return to my warped version of welcomed normalcy!
